Christian Bale has revealed his upcoming stint as Batman will be his last – E! Online reports.

The actor has played the coveted role of the mysterious superhero and his alter ego Bruce Wayne in the first two movies in the franchise ‘Batman Begins‘ in 2005 and the 2008 sequel ‘The Dark Knight‘. He’s set to star in the up-coming third movie of the series ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘, which has been pencilled fora 2012 release.

Along with Bale, this will be Christopher Nolan‘s last directorial project in the franchise – of which he has helped to make a huge success.

Despite this being his last movie, 36-year-old Christian he is looking forward to being involved in the best Batman production yet.

He says:

“The thing is that this will be, I believe, unless Chris says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman.

“[I’m] very excited, because if Chris maintains, this will be the last one.

“We’ve got to up it.”

This makes perfect sense! I doubt that anyone will be able to give Batman the edge that the two Chris’ gave. Well…Guillermo del Toro is another helmer with the creative eye to take Batman to the next level – IF Warner Bros. were looking for another director after Nolan.
