Rihanna Boards The ‘Battleship’!

Rihanna will make her movie acting debut in Universal’s ‘Battleship‘, and will be starring alongside Alexander Skarsgård and Taylor Kitsch, with Peter Berg in the director’s chair – Variety reports.


The deal was announced late yesterday, and filming on the live-action version of the popular Hasbro board game is expected to begin very soon.

A release date for ‘Battleship‘ has been penned for the 25th May 2012 has been penned, and the story will take place across the seas, over the skies and land in a battle for planet survival against a superior force. Kitsch stars as a naval officer who leads the fight, while Skarsgård will play his brother.

Berg is producing along with Sarah Aubrey of Film 44; Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro and Scott Stuber of Stuber Pictures.

Scribes Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber worked on the screenplay, with revisions by Brian Koppelman and David Levien.
