Filming Location Revealed For BOND 23 Opening Scenes!

Looks like Daniel Craig will be catching some rays in the wonderful location of Istanbul, as he reprises the role of dashing British agent James Bond – MI6-HQ.com reports!

The Turkish location has been chosen for the BOND 23 opening scenes, after producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli met with Ertugrul Günay, the Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister, on Tuesday to confirm that filming will commence in November 2011.

Speaking about their recent discussions, Günay said:

“The opening scenes are planned to be filmed in Istanbul, but some other places will also be used outside Istanbul for the film.

Locations will include Sultanahmet Square and a number of other neighbouring areas are under consideration,“including the waterside and shores of the Bosporus”, as Günay reveals.

Of course, Bond aficionados will know that this isn’t the first time that the spy has visited Istanbul (‘From Russia With Love‘ and ‘The World Is Not Enough‘), and it seemed only right that he should return there.

Wilson adds:

“James Bond is no stranger to Istanbul, and as the series marks its 50th anniversary next year, it is fitting that 007 would return to one of the most loved locations in the history of the franchise.

“It really just feels like we are coming home.”

The new film, directed by Sam Mendes, is due to start filming on the 9th November, 2011, with a 2012 release being circled.
