The mystery surrounding Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s character in ‘The Dark Knight Rises‘ has been solved (we think)! Insiders tell Variety that he will play Alberto Falcone, son of Mafia boss Carmine Falcone – portrayed by Tom Wilkinson in ‘Batman Begins‘!

Alberto Falcone, known as the Holiday Killer to Batman aficionados, was seen as an outcast in his family of mobsters, and this wasn’t helped by daddy Falcone supporting his older siblings Mario and Sofia Gigante involvement in the so-called “family business”.

Despite gaining a Harvard and Oxford education, Alberto still wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps, but Carmine refused – apparently wishing for him to lead a normal life. But like most children, do we always listen to our parents?

How they will bring him into the story is anyone’s guess, and Warner Bros. have declined to comment on any casting or character rumours – including speculation as to which character Juno Temple is likely to play in Christopher Nolan‘s final (??) Batman flick!

’The Dark Knight Rises‘ is due for release on 20 July, 2012.
