INCEPTION Triumphs At The Golden Reel Awards!



Christopher Nolan‘s hit movie ‘Inception‘ has picked up more honours in the run-up to the Oscars, scooping two awards at the Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Awards on Sunday (20th February 2011).


The Academy Award-nominated movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio (pictured above with Nolan), was recognised for best sound editing in the categories of sound effects & foley and music in a feature film.

Oscar rival ‘The Social Network‘ was also honoured at the event, winning a prize for best sound editing in the category for dialogue and automated dialogue replacement in a feature film.

Gwyneth Paltrow‘s movie ‘Country Strong‘ scooped the award for best sound editing of music in a musical, while ‘How To Train Your Dragon‘ was named the animated feature with the best sound editing.

Star Wars‘ creator George Lucas, who presented an MPSE award for Career Achievement to veteran sound designer Walter Murch, told the audience:

“Sound is half of the experience of a motion picture… The sound editor should start working the same day the editor starts working.”

Best Sound Editing: Sound Effects, Foley, Dialogue and ADR in a Feature Foreign Language Film: MICMACS

Best Sound Editing: Music in a Feature Film: INCEPTION

Best Sound Editing: Music in a Musical Feature Film: COUNTRY STRONG

Best Sound Editing: Dialogue and ADR in a Feature Film: THE SOCIAL NETWORK

Best Sound Editing: Sound Effects and Foley in a Feature Film: INCEPTION
