JAMES BOND Will Return In ‘SKYFALL’!

By on 3 November, 2011

After many rumours and false starts over the past couple of years, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson introduced ‘American Beauty‘ helmer Sam Mendes to members of the press in London to tell them about the latest 007 adventure – which has been officially titled as ‘SKYFALL‘! Did you know that it’s also 50 years to the day that Sean Connery was announced as 007 in ‘Dr. No‘?

Prinicple photography on ‘Skyfall‘ will begin today in Whitehall and this is the reason why they made the announcement in central London, and not in Pinewood Studios. Daniel Craig will be returning for his third outing as James Bond, and other key cast members at the launch of the 23rd James Bond movie were Naomie Harris, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench and Bérénice Marlohe. Other cast members on working on the movie will be Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Wishaw, but details were not revealed as to the parts they’re playing (obviously). Despite the secrecy, Mendes promises lots of action, and “lots of surprises”!

When asked why they couldn’t reveal the other 3 characters, the audience was told that it’s because fans would recognise them. Who could it be? Could we see the return of Q and/or Blofeld?

What we do know is that Harris will be playing a field agent called Eve, and not Miss Moneypenny, as has been widely rumoured. Marlohe will play a “glamorous, enigmatic character called Severin”, which was correctly identified by the press days before the official confirmation. Both actresses have been put through intense training sessions and learning how to “fire guns”.

The script is by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade is apparently “fantastic”, and filming locations will include Shanghai, Istanbul, and Scotland. An amazing car chase sequence is rumoured to be filming in Smithfield market in central London next month!

When asked as to the reason why the title was chosen, Mendes states that it has “emotional meaning” which will be revealed in the movie. The story of Quantum will not be involved in ‘Skyfall‘, and it will be in a similar tone to that of ‘Casino Royale – which will no doubt please Bond aficionados.

Will the sky be the limit for Bond in this new movie? Will it out-perform ‘Quantum of Solace‘? More news will be published here as and when I have it!
