Twilight‘ star Robert Pattinson has reportedly been asked to play Jeff Buckley in a forthcoming biopic of the singer’s life!

Buckley died in 1997 aged only 30, and a movie of his life has long been rumoured to be in the works. Now some gossip websites have reported an anonymous source as saying Pattinson is “obsessed” with landing the role.

Buckley‘s mother Mary Guibert, 62, is also said to have reacted to the suggestion of Pattinson being involved, saying:

“Robert is a fine young actor. I’m flattered he’s been linked to this project. When the time comes we’ll give everybody an opportunity to be seen and heard.”

Michelle Sy, who is apparently producing the project, has previously requested that the actor who plays Buckley should be able to play guitar and sing. This would be an advantage for Pattinson, who has previously written and played on songs which appeared on the ‘Twilight‘ soundtrack.
