UNIVERSAL Decide Not To Mess With OUIJA?

Universal has decided not to go-ahead with Ouija board-game movie adaptation, despite being tied to a six-year exclusive pact with Hasbro!

The movie, which McG was attached to direct alongside Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form with producer with Ian Bryce and Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir, will most likely be set up elsewhere, along with other game adaptation projects – including Cluedo.

As the studio has its hands full with the likes of ‘Oblivion‘, ‘47 Ronin‘, ‘Safe House‘ and ‘Battleship‘, the loss of Ouija appears to be a more of a cost-cutting exercise! But this change of heart didn’t come without a cost, as Vulture reports that Universal are paying Hasbro a $5 million (£3.05 million) penalty for dropping it, as per terms of its 2008 ground-breaking deal with the toy giant.

Has anyone dabbled with a Ouija board?
