After many screen tests and rumours, Variety is reporting that Benjamin Walker will play Abraham Lincoln in 20th Century Fox’s ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter‘.

Adrien Brody, Josh Lucas, James D’Arcy and Oliver Jackson-Cohen had screen-tested over the last couple of weeks, as Variety first reported yesterday that Walker emerged as the front-runner, and he signed a deal shortly thereafter.

Seth Grahame-Smith, who penned the original novel which inspired the movie, will also write the script. Timur Bekmambetov will direct and co-produce with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley.

It will be shot in 3-D and the story revolves around the president’s quest to rid the world of vampires, presented as the real conflict behind the Civil War.

Filming is set to begin in March, and is set for release on 22nd June, 2012!
