James Corden will portray Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts in Harvey Weinstein‘s new biopic, ‘One Chance‘!

The 33-year-old comedian, who won this year’s (2012) prestigious Tony award for Best Performance by an Actor in ‘One Man Two Guvnors‘, has been cast as tenor Paul Potts in Harvey Weinstein‘s biopic about the opera singer’s difficult road to fame.

Speaking to the Daily MailWeinstein said:

“James is a brilliant actor and a wonderful comedian and we’re excited to be working with him – and David – on this inspiring true story.

“Hot off James’s Tony win, we can’t wait to get started.”

Potts worked as a mobile phone salesman before winning the first series of Simon Cowell‘s TV talent show ‘Britain’s Got Talent‘, back in 2007. Cowell, Piers Morgan, and Amanda Holden were astounded by his performance, and he has since become a global star since winning the top prize on the show.

Katy Perry is reportedly in talks to play Potts‘ wife, Julie-Ann Cooper, as Weinstein previously said:

“I was talking to Katy about a new project, a possible dramatic role in the Paul Potts movie, which will be shooting in England soon.

“We’d really like someone like Katy or Adele to play the role of Potts’ wife, and Katy seemed genuinely interested.”

The project is set to kick off in October, 2012, when filming is due to begin.

Not sure how interesting this film will be, and I think James Corden is too over-exposed at the moment, in terms of him appearing in various shows here and there.
