Helmer Jon Favreau has confirmed that he is adapting the hit Broadway musical ‘Jersey Boys‘ for the big screen!

The ‘Iron Man‘ moviemaker is due to begin shooting the project, which tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, in early 2013 in New York and New Jersey.

In a post on his page, he confirms:

Producers are currently casting the four lead male performers to portray Valli and his bandmates Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, and Nick Massi.

The show debuted on Broadway in November 2005 and it went on win an array of prizes, including four Tony Awards and a Grammy, while the London production was named Best New Musical at the Laurence Olivier Awards in 2008.

Could this movie add an OSCAR to the slew of awards?

I agree with Tom. I wasn’t keen on the stage show, but I do like films by Jon Favreau. I’ll be keeping my eye on this one.

I think I’m the only one here who didn’t like the show at all. Musicals just aren’t my thing!

Fantastic news! Have you seen the play? It’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen (second to Le Mis of course). Thanks for the heads-up. I’m very excited.

Jon Favreau will have a task on his hands, but I think he’ll be able to pull it off.
