Helmer Lee Daniels is in talks to direct a new Janis Joplin biopic, starring Amy Adams as the tragic 1960s rock and blues legend – according to the Hollywood Reporter!

City of God‘ moviemaker Fernando Meirelles had initially been picked to direct the project in 2010, but producers later approached ‘Twilight”s Catherine Hardwicke, and now the man behind the hit movie ‘Precious‘ has become the latest name attached to the film, titled after the singer’s hit song Get It While You Can.

Get It While You Can‘ isn’t the only Joplin movie in the works, as Tony Award-winning star Nina Arianda is also set to portray the late icon,  who died from a drug overdose in 1970, aged 27.

Production on ‘Get It While You Can‘ is due to begin early next year (2013).
