ORANGE BAFTA FILM AWARDS 2012 – The Nominees!

The BAFTA 2012 (Orange British Academy Film Awards) nominations are in!

 

As expected, Meryl Streep has been nominated for the coveted Lead Actress award for her role as Baroness Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady‘, and the wonderfully talented Michelle Williams is also up for the prize for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in ‘My Week With Marilyn‘.

 

Joining them in the same category are Tilda Swinton, for her role in ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin‘, Viola Davis for ‘The Help‘, and Bérénice Bejo for the ‘The Artist‘.

Vying for the Best Lead Actor gong are Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Gary Oldman, Jean Dujardin and Michael Fassbender.

 

The Artist‘ has notched the largest number of nominations at this year’s BAFTAs, with a mammouth total of 12 gongs, followed closely by Cold War thriller ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy‘ with 11, including a nomination for Best Lead Actor for Gary Oldman.

 

Martin Scorsese‘s first children’s movie ‘Hugo‘ scored nine nominations, including Best Director, while ‘My Week With Marilyn‘ scored six nominations. ‘The Help‘ and ‘War Horse‘ have both received 5 nominations.
