EDDIE REDMAYNE To Star As STEPHEN HAWKING In Biopic!

‘Les Miserables‘ star Eddie Redmayne is reportedly tipped to play physicist Stephen Hawking in the biopic in the Working Title movie ‘Theory Of Everything‘ – according to Deadline!

 

James Marsh (‘Man on Wire‘) is set to direct the project, which focuses on the relationship between ALS-afflicted scientist Hawking and his wife. Anthony McCarten wrote the script.

Hawking is as well-known for his disability as he is for his work. The world-famous physicist was diagnosed, aged 21, with motor neuron disease. The illness, progressively worsening since Hawking‘s diagnosis in 1962, has left Hawking confined to a wheelchair. He is unable to speak without a voice simulator. Despite all the difficulties, Hawking still continues to teach at the University of Cambridge.
 

This will be the first feature film about Hawking‘s life, which has previously been dramatised in the 2004 BBC film ‘Hawking‘, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. As with the 2004 adaptation, this new biopic will concentrate on Hawking‘s personal life including the difficulties caused by his illness.

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will serve as producers, and filming is scheduled to start in early autumn, 2013.
