ELIJAH WOOD Starring In A Remake Of MANIAC?

Elijah Wood will be leaving the Shires for the murky city streets, as he is set to star in a remake of the 1980 slasher movie called ‘MANIAC‘ – according to Bloodydisgusting.com.

 

The ‘Lord of the Rings‘ star head up the cast alongside Nora Arnezeder (‘Safe House‘) in helmer Franck Khalfoun‘s reimagining of William Lustig‘s gory cult film about a serial killer who stalks and kills various young women in New York, as revenge for the mistreatment he received from his abusive mother.
 

Arnezeder will play Anna, originally portrayed by Caroline Munro, and Wood will play the titular maniac Frank Zito.

An interesting change from his usual nice-guy roles, but this is yet another example that Hollywood is running out of fresh ideas for new movies. Oh the shame!
