THE BRIT AWARDS 2011 – Nominees!

Tinie Tempah leads the Brit Awards 2011 noms, with the London rapper competing for British Male Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act, British Single for Pass Out AND MasterCard British Album of the Year for Disc-Overy.

Other nominees in the album category include Plan B, Take That, Mumford & Sons and The xx, and eyes are also on the British Female Solo Artist category, which sees Cheryl Cole, Ellie Goulding, Laura Marling, Paloma Faith and Rumer fighting for the prize.

Notice anything different about the award statuette? The BRITs have opted for a blank canvas trophy which will be restyled each year by a leading British creative person, making the prize unique each year. 2011’s statue has been styled by visionary fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood.

BRITs Chairman David Joseph spoke about the reasons behind this year’s creative choice:

“Vivienne stands for all the things we want to inspire in tomorrow’s generation of artists. She continues to be unique, innovative not to mention massively inspired by music and vice versa. We are honoured she accepted our offer of designing 2011’s trophy.”

The Brit Awards ceremony (hosted by James Corden) will take place at the O2 Arena on Tuesday 15th February 2011, and will be broadcast live on ITV1 at 8pm.
