Manilow Fearful Of Losing His Fans!

Veteran music legend Barry Manilow is afraid he will one day walk out on stage to an empty arena – because he’s convinced his fanbase is slowly dying out!

The Could It Be Magic singer is still a huge draw in concert, and regularly sells out venues in Las Vegas and New York. But he always checks with his manager to see if there is an audience every night before showtime – and now he’s adamant fans only buy tickets for his gigs because they think he will die soon.

Speaking on today’s ‘This Morning‘ TV show, he says:

“I really am surprised that there are still people out there that come. I ask my stage manager every night, ‘Is there anybody out there?’ and I really mean it.

“After all these years I’m not sure that I have got an audience out there, and every night there seems to be more people, younger (fans). I think it’s like, ‘Is he still alive? Let’s go catch him before he croaks’, or something like that.”

Barry Manilow will be performing at London’s O2 Arena from the 4th – 7th May 2011.

I’ve never been a complete Manilow fan, but I’d be interested in seeing him in concert…at some point! I know my mum is a huge fan of his.
