Paige Miffed By Boyle’s Album Snub?

By on 1 February, 2011

West End diva Elaine Paige was reportedly baffled when Susan Boyle‘s second album was released – because her duet with the Scottish singer had been scrapped in favour of a collaboration with “someone from the public”. Don’t you just hate it when that happens?

Boyle shot to fame after auditioning for Simon Cowell‘s ‘Britain’s Got Talent‘ TV show, and she told the music mogul she dreamed of becoming as successful as her idol Paige.

Obviously flattered by her comments,Paige subsequently labelled Boyle a “virus that swept the world”, but made up for the slur by performing her track from the ‘Chess‘ musical I Know Him So Well with the unlikely superstar on a U.K. TV special.

The stage star claims she was told their collaboration would feature on Boyle‘s 2010 album The Gift, but she was baffled when she realised a duet with an unknown U.S. paramedic had been included instead.

She tells the U.K.’s Daily Record:

“I did put my part of the duet down. But they didn’t do it. I don’t know or understand quite why. It’s a difficult scenario with Susan. The record company are very protective of her. They’ve made a choice not to sing with me.

“Susan has her career and I have mine. We don’t need to sing with each other to have a career.

“She had this album that came out before Christmas which sold bucketloads again which is fantastic for her. But they weren’t interested in her doing a duet with anybody in the business.

“I haven’t heard it but I believe she did a duet on that album with someone from the public or something.”
