NEW ORDER To Perform Special Gigs For MICHAEL SHAMBERG!

NEW ORDER will play a gig to raise money for ailing filmmaker MICHAEL SHAMBERG!

British group NEW ORDER will reunite, without bassist Peter Hook, for two special gigs in Europe this autumn (2011), to help raise money for ailing movie-maker Michael Shamberg!

They last performed live back in 2006, and now they’re set to make a long-overdue return to the stage at the Ancienne Belgique in Belgium on 17th October and again in Paris, France at the La Bataclan on 18th October, 2011, to raise money for Shamberg – who is currently suffering with a debilitating illness. During their hey-day, the Pulp Fiction producer filmed a number of the group’s music videos.

In an interview with NME.com, the group said:

“Michael (Shamberg) has been with us from the very start. Initially he was in charge of Factory New York (music studio), then became creative producer for all our early videos…

“Michael is very ill and needs constant medical attention. We want to help him, and these shows will contribute financial support towards his ongoing care.”

Tom Chapman perform in place of former bass player Hook, who left the band in 2007, and keyboard player Gillian Gilbert will once again perform with the group – for the first time in 10 years!
