DANIEL RADCLIFFE’s Pledge To Help Child Actors!

By on 8 July, 2011

Daniel Radcliffe is hoping that he can help other child actors face fewer expectations of failure, if he manages to forge a successful career after ‘Harry Potter‘!

The 21-year-old actor, who was cast as the titular character in the Harry Potter movies at the age of 11 years old, believes that if he can go on to do well in his movie career now he is older, other young stars will no longer be dismissed before they reach adulthood.

He explained:

“My personal crusade. If I can make a career for myself after ‘Potter’, and it goes well and is varied and with longevity, then that puts to bed the Child Actors Argument.

“If I can do it, in the biggest film franchise of all time, no other actor who comes after will have to answer those same questions.”

Radcliffe insists he doesn’t mind that he will always be associated with ‘Harry Potter‘ and will always be proud of how huge the franchise was.

When GQ Magazine asked if he thinks he will always be connected with the character, he said:

“Yeah. But I think that’s pretty cool. And I’m sure that in another 20 or 30 years time there will be a new phenomenon.

“And I will at some point be saying dismissively to my children, ‘Huh. ‘Harry Potter’ was bigger than this. This is nothing compared with ‘Harry Potter’. You think that’s fans? That’s not fans.’ “
