GLEE‘ star Matthew Morrison is set to duet with Elton John on his forthcoming solo album – according to USA Weekend!

The collaboration was intended to be kept under wraps, but Elton recently revealed the news. Despite the leak, Morrison has described working with the singer-songwriter as “an amazing experience”, adding:

“We were in the studio, I’m singing and there’s Elton John next to me. What a trip! He’s just incredible. I just feel lucky and fortunate to be associated with him.”

Morrison plays music teacher Mr Schuester in the HBO TV musical-comedy and he has previously had starred in a number of Broadway productions such as ‘Hairspray‘, ‘Footloose‘ and ‘The Rocky Horror Show‘.

His solo album will be released in May 2011, and when asked to describe it one word, he said, “awesome”, before going on to say:

“It’s a labour of love. I’m at the point where I’m just ready to let go. I put a lot into it and it’s great learning the whole songwriting process and what that’s about.

“I have such a respect for that, as well as getting to work with some really fantastic songwriters and other singers like Elton.”
