DEVIOUS MAIDS – Latinas Make Their Mark!

Devious Maids - TV Review! TOMORROW'S NEWS - The Latest Entertainment News Today!

If you’ve got withdrawal symptoms from the brilliantly successful ‘Desperate Housewives‘, the creator has created something that is sure to fill that void!

Currently airing on Lifetime, ‘Devious Maids‘ follows the lives of four Latina maids as they try to pursue their ambitions and dreams while working for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills, California.

Devious Maids‘ stars an all Latina main cast, which consists of Ana Ortiz as the main character and Dania Ramierz, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes as the other maids. It follows the same format as ‘Desperate Housewives‘ in the sense that the series is based around 4 main characters, with stories that all interlink. The series begins following the maids around a wealthy-people party until one of them is killed and crashes into the swimming pool, which is the main storyline of the series as secrets and lies unravel, both personally and professionally leaving the main character, Marisol to connect the dots between it all.

Created by Marc Cherry, ‘Devious Maids‘ really gives the Latina community a chance to shine and tell their stories (how often do you see that on TV in this ‘equally opportunistic’ world?) Yes, people will ask “why do Latina’s have to be portrayed as maids?”, but if you actually look beyond what they do as jobs within the show, they are shown as the far more superior people than those they work for, and as executive producer Eva Longoria says “Are their stories not interesting? are they not worth telling?”

Devious Maids‘ has a Marc Cherry-esque feel to it and as the lies come out and the mystery just gets more mysterious, the show gets a pump of adrenaline and leaves you wanting to find out more.

The story is well thought out and is constantly adding new twists to keep the audience on the edge of their seats (and to other men out there, if the story doesn’t sound that appealing to you, you get to watch Roselyn Sanchez walk around in a maids uniform-that woman could sell a tin of baked beans she’s so beautiful).

In every episode you discover more of what goes on behind the scenes in a wealthy persons life and there are always secrets to uncover so if you were a ‘Desperate Housewives‘ fan this is definitely worth a watch.
