Disney Names Franco As The New WIZARD OF OZ!
It appears that Disney‘s search for their new Wizard of Oz, is over, as they have signed a deal with James Franco to take on the role in ‘OZ: The Great and Powerful‘ – according to Deadline.
The prequel to the L. Frank Baum novel has been scripted by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire, with Joe Roth producing and Sam Raimi sitting in the director’s chair.
The story will include the origins of the Wizard and Oz‘s infamous witches like Glinda the Good Witch of the North and Evanorah, who will become the Wicked Witch of the East. Mila Kunis is set to play Theodorah, who will become the Wicked Witch of the West.
Production is set to begin in July 2011.
