ADELE And PJ HARVEY Are Favourites To Win MERCURY PRIZE!
Soul and rock music will go head-to-head, as Adele and PJ Harvey (among other nominees) have been nominated for the Album of the Year award at this year’s Mercury Prize ceremony!
Soul singer Adele will go head-to-head with cult rocker Pj Harvey for the album of the year honour at the 2011 Mercury Prize ceremony.
The Rolling In The Deep hitmaker’s second album, 21, is joint favourite with Harvey‘s critically-acclaimed Let England Shake on the shortlist for the prestigious honour. Other albums hotly tipped for the gong include rapper Tinie Tempah‘s Disc-Overy and Elbow‘s Build a Rocket Boys!, closely followed by Katy B‘s On a Mission and singer/songwriter Anna Calvi‘s self-titled debut record.
Awarded on an annual basis, the Mercury Prize is handed to the most influential and groundbreaking British record of the previous 12 months. This year’s ceremony will take place in London in September 2011.
