MADONNA: “LADY GAGA References Me A Lot!”

Madonna has spoken out against Lady Gaga in the past, and it looks like the Queen of Pop isn’t done yet either as, ahead of her performance at the Super Bowl Half-Time Show and the forthcoming release this year of her 12th studio album, her promotional campaign has stepped up a gear!

The 53 year-old had offered compliments (of a sort) to Gaga on ‘The Graham Norton Show‘ in the UK recently, with MTV News reporting her saying:

“When I first saw her I was really impressed by her, she was cool. She did remind me of me back in the day.”

Although not a completely veiled compliment, her last comments appears to suggest that Gaga had plagiarised her.

Madonna adds:

“I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well-done. When I heard [‘Born This Way’] on the radio … I said, ‘that sounds very familiar’ … It felt reductive.”

When asked if “reductive” was a good or a bad thing, she replied “look it up”.

The Hung Up hitmaker had more words on Born This Way for Newsweek, suggesting that Gaga copied her track Express Yourself , stating:

“I thought, ‘What a wonderful way to redo my song’. I mean, I recognised the chord changes. I thought it was….interesting.”

I don’t care what anyone says, there’s no compliment for Gaga there!
