DE NIRO Returns To GROUND ZERO For TV Special!

New Yorker Robert De Niro will host a special programme from inside Ground Zero on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist atrocities, according to the Los Angeles Times!

The film, by French filmmakers Jules and Gedeon Naudet, will focus on the lives of the fire-fighters involved in the rescue mission.

The ‘Taxi Driver‘ star, who hosted the Naudet‘s original Emmy Award-winning program ‘9/11‘, will once again return to Ground Zero to host ‘9/11: 10 Years later‘. The original film was intended to be a documentary about New York fire-fighters, but the planes struck the World Trade Centre while the Naudets were shooting the movie. They then followed fire-fighters inside the site and captured 75 minutes of rare footage inside the North Tower before it collapsed.

The new film joins a documentary by Jim Whitaker, titled ‘Rebirth‘, as part of CBS‘ 11th September remembrances. ‘10 Years Later‘ reportedly contains the only known footage of the first plane striking the Trade Centre – a clip that was not featured in the original film.

De Niro, who has a home in both the east and west sides of Manhattan, recently completed shooting the upcoming comedy ‘Another Bullshit Night in Suck City‘.
