Sarah Jessica Parker has joined the cast of ‘New Year’s Eve‘, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Halle Berry and Zac Efron are also reportedly in talks to star in New Line‘s thematic follow-up to ‘Valentine’s Day‘.  The currently line-up includes Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Michelle Pfeiffer and Hilary Swank, among others.

As in ‘Valentine’s Day‘, the movie will take place in a 24-hour period and will involve an ensemble cast navigating between intertwining stories. Parker will apparently play a smothering mother to Abigail Breslin‘s character.

Other stories include a hospitalised man in his last days (De Niro), a man who hates the festive period (Kutcher), a businesswoman trying to accomplish her resolutions before the year runs out (Pfeiffer) and a woman producing the Time Square holiday show (Swank).

So far, production is being planned for a February 2011 shoot in New York, with a release date of 9th December, 2011.
