REEVE CARNEY: “BUCKLEY Biopic Will Be Different To BADGLEY’S Version!”

Reeve Carney, star of Broadway’s ‘SPIDER-MAN, Turn Off The Dark‘, is adamant his biopic about tragic singer/songwriter Jeff Buckley will be completely different from Penn Badgley‘s movie about the late star!

While both actors will play Buckley in rival flicks, only Carney‘s version has the full backing of the Hallelujah singer’s mother – and he’s certain the projects won’t compete for Buckley‘s fans at the box office.

He says:

“I read both scripts, and I don’t see them as competing at all. I think the only similarity between the two is the fact that the character’s named Jeff Buckley.”

Carney, who was announced he would star as Buckley earlier this month (August 2011), said that he can’t wait to get started on the project and feels privileged that he’ll get a chance to sing some of the late singer’s famous songs!

He adds:

“I was thrilled to be involved in something that tells Jeff’s story and focuses on his life, and also be in something that his mother is involved in. And being able to sing his songs… I love Jeff’s songs, so I was really happy to be a part of a film that showcases his music.”
