THE MONKEES Embark On First Tour Without DAVY JONES!
The surviving members of The Monkees are reuniting to launch their first tour without late frontman Davy Jones!
The star suffered a fatal heart attack in February (2012) and guitarist Peter Tork recently revealed Jones had been busy putting together plans for a tour just days before his death.
Now the remaining Monkees, consisting of Tork, Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith, have unveiled plans to press ahead with a 12-date run of shows across the U.S., which will start in California in November (2012) and they will be honouring Jones via multimedia content.
This tour will mark the first time the trio played together in 15 years, as Nesmith was not a part of last year’s (2011) The Monkees 45th Anniversary Tour, which was cut short after 40 concerts due to a business issue.
Bassist Nesmith admits he jumped at the chance to reunite with his old pals once more, as he tells RollingStone.com:
“This seems like a good time to do this – the right time. Who knows when we will get another chance?”
No details have been revealed as to who will front the band during their tour, but I’m sure Davy Jones will never be truly replaced.
