DANNY BOYLE Eager To Move Forward With TRAINSPOTTING Sequel!
Great news for ‘Trainspotting‘ movie fans, as Danny Boyle is back on track with a sequel to his hugely popular 1996 movie, and he believes the rest of the original cast will also jump at he chance of coming back for it – according to IndieWire!
The sequel, which will be loosely based on Irvine Welsh’s novel Porno (itself a follow-up for the characters in ‘Trainspotting‘), all rests on whether John Hodge can churn out a decent script in which to lure the original actors back to continue the story.
Speaking at the 2013 SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, Boyle addressed the prospect of a sequel to the original comic drama, which originally starred Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle:
“This has been a long time coming.
“There’s always been this long term plan for Trainspotting 2, if John can produce a decent enough script, I don’t think there will be any barriers to Ewan or any of the cast coming back.
“I think they’ll wanna know that the parts are good so they don’t feel like they are letting anyone down.”
Justifying his reasons for wanting to do a sequel (as if any were needed), Boyle said:
“The reason for doing it again is that people cherish the original, people remember it or have caught up with it if they never saw because they were younger, so you want to make sure you don’t disappoint people.
“That will be the only criteria I think.”
Am I the only person excited about this? I hope not.
