2008s ‘Cloverfield‘ was a terrifically, frightening film that can be best appreciated for its inventive shooting style and creative representation of mass destruction caused from an alien life force.

We all can probably agree that this was mind-blowing, and we were left eager and anxious at the end when no questions were answered. ‘10 Cloverfield Lane‘ is the second film in the ‘Cloverfield‘ franchise.

Do we get those answers we so desperately craved after seeing the first film? No. But we do get a different take on what happened to someone else, somewhere else, as the first film is set in New York City.

It all begins when Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) leaves New Orleans following an argument with her fiancé Ben, and gets into a car accident, leaving her unconscious. She survives but wakes up to find herself in an underground bunker with two men. Howard (John Goodman) and Emmett (John Gallagher Jr.).

Howard tells her that a massive chemical attack on the outside has made the air unbreathable, and the only way they can survive is by staying inside the bunker. He tells her that he basically just about managed to rescue Michelle and his neighbour, Emmett, and bring them back to the bunker.

Anxiety heightens inside the bunker as Michelle‘s distrust for Howard grows and she takes the situation into her own hands to try and find out the truth about the world outside.

10 Cloverfield Lane‘ is a pretty good film which tends to remind you of ‘Cabin in the Woods‘.

It is filled with everything a psychological thriller needs to put your nerves on edge, and while it’s a smaller story than the ‘Cloverfield‘, it is just as effective in the way that it unnerves and excites you.

There a chance that you may come away feeling unsettled because of the lack of answers , and trying to establish exactly how that’s a sequel. However, that aside, the film is definitely cleverly done and thrills you unimaginably, with a hair standing on the back of your neck kind of feel.

It’s definitely the one to watch and get absorbed in.
