BOBBY WOMACK Struggles To Recall Songs Due To Alzheimers!
Soul legend Bobby Womack has revealed he is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and admits he struggles to recall his songs, and co-stars’ names!
He tells tabloid rag The Sun:
“The doctor says there are signs of Alzheimer’s, it’s not bad yet but will get worse.
“How can I not remember songs I wrote? It’s frustrating.
“I don’t feel together yet. Negative things come in my mind and it’s hard for me to remember sometimes.”
The 68-year-old star, who only beat colon cancer in May 2012, recently worked with Damon Albarn on the album The Bravest Man In The Universe and he admits he’s worried he will forget Damon‘s surname!
He adds:
“The most embarrassing thing is I’ll be ready to announce Damon and can’t remember his last name.”
Womack was also approached by Damon to appear on the third Gorillaz album Plastic Beach and he believes the move helped him pull through his cancer battle.
He said:
“During the time I was ill in hospital, the thing that kept me alive was Damon. He was really interested in me. I was like, ‘Times have changed – I could be in a wheelchair or have no voice.’ He said, ‘We’ll take a shot. I want you to sing on the Gorillaz album.’ That’s what brought me back to life.”
